”Ane dal gielav, divna tjoavdá dån”

for real:

i get a little teary when i listen to mihá ja gievrra bc its such a happy, powerful song—something that saami musicians rarely do. and even tho lovisa negga isnt from my community, her music is important to me and also to us bc she, and ppl like her and amoc and slincraze, are exactly what we need: young artists who lead by example, not by authority; who touch us by talking to us rather than over us or past us. ppl who can engage esp. the younger generations on a more equal footing rather than as glorified cultural icons and show how cool it is to speak saami, to use it, to make space for it—and with the language, the people, too.
